A+A-

The screen of a computer is difficult to look at for extended periods of time. Everyone likely knows they need to take a break now and again to rest their eyes. However, that is not the only thing you can do to help protect your eyes when you need to sit in front of a computer all day long. If your job requires you to stare at a bright screen, make sure you follow these tips. They could help spare your eyesight and prevent eye strain.

Tips to Protect Your Eyes

Make sure you get your eyes checked annually. If you need corrective lenses, make sure you tell your eye doctor what you do for a living so that they can recommend the right contacts or glasses for being in front of a screen.

Another tip is to set up your computer so you can look downward at the screen. Looking up strains your eyes more and can lead to some really nasty headaches.

If your screen gets a lot of glare on it, use an anti-glare screen protector over the screen. The reflection from the glare can hurt your eyes, plus make it more difficult for you to see what you are doing.

If you notice your eyes getting dry, keep them moist. Make sure to blink more often, and when necessary, use an approved eye drop to help keep your eyes moist while working.

If you follow these tips, your eyes are far less likely to struggle with the computer screen. Don't forget to get up and move around regularly, taking a break from looking at the screen. It may only be for a short time, but that rest really helps your eyes.
