Infocus Eye Care offers a variety of solutions for correcting your near vision. Replacement lens surgery, monovision LASIK surgery, and multifocal contact lenses are options that may allow you to improve your near vision and see young again.
For patients who find that reading glasses hinder their lifestyle, our board-certified ophthalmic surgeons, Dr. Ida Alul and Dr. Patricia Buehler, offer the most advanced surgical solutions for presbyopia:
Monovision LASIK
Monovision LASIK is a great solution for patients over the age of 40 who are excellent candidates for LASIK, but who do not want to rely on reading glasses after surgery. The result of monovision LASIK surgery is that your dominant eye is corrected to focus and see well at distance, while your non-dominant eye is corrected to see well for intermediate or near vision.
While the concept of monovision may sound peculiar, the majority of patients are able to adapt well to monovision. Monovision may also be achieved through lens replacement surgery or contact lenses.
Lens Replacement Surgery
Lens replacement surgery is an option for patients who are starting to develop cataracts. During lens replacement surgery, the natural lens inside the eye is removed and an artificial lens is inserted in its place.
Advancements in artificial lenses have led to the Crystalens and ReSTOR lens technologies. These accommodating or multifocal lenses allow you to see a wide range of vision, from distance to near.
For those patients who may not have an interest in vision correction surgery, our optometric physicians can fit your for specialty multifocal lenses or monovision contact lenses. The Infocus Eye Care optical boutique offers a wide array of options for bifocal or progressive eyeglasses.
