LASIK and LASIK Technology

LASIK surgery is a type of laser vision correction in which the cornea is reshaped to correct vision difficulties. LASIK has been proven effective in treating myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness), and astigmatism.

For years, LASIK was performed using a bladed device called a microkeratome to create a corneal flap. While many people received an excellent result from LASIK with a microkeratome, the bladed device is not nearly as safe or precise as the bladeless, all-laser method we now use at InFocus Eye Care. 

Over the years, LASIK technology has improved greatly. At InFocus Eye Care, all of our LASIK surgeries are bladeless, providing our patients in Bend, Oregon with the safest, fastest, and most effective form of laser vision correction available. We use the Ziemer Femto LVD femtosecond laser and the Alcon WaveLight Allegretto Wave Eye-Q excimerlaser to provide you with stunningly precise results. We are pleased to make this exciting breakthrough in vision correction technology available to our patients in Central Oregon.

LASIK is not ideal for every patient. Our board-certified eye surgeons, Dr. Ida Alul and Dr. Patricia Buehler, will work closely with you to help you determine what procedures will best suit your needs. For patients who are not ideal candidates for LASIK, we can offer PRK, lens replacement surgery, or help you find eyewear and contact lenses that can fit your lifestyle.
